Biography
I am a composer and producer based in Los Angeles, CA. I’ve worked as a music curator, string arranger, tour manager, and I am also a classically trained saxophonist and recording studio engineer. My sound and visual art are largely inspired by Renaissance sculpture, the Impressionists, and New Wave Cinema. When not in the studio, I can be found on the 1980's sailboat I am restoring or road-biking through LA while dreaming of the Italian Alps (when I’m not just there instead).
COMPOSER / PRODUCER / MUSIC CURATOR
Dario Slavazza is a composer and producer based in Los Angeles, CA.
My professional career started working under Composer/Arranger Minna Choi for Magik*Magik Orchestra in the 2010s while simultaneously working as Studio Manager for the emerging studio and music incubator Zoo Labs. While with Magik, I worked with artist such as Nick Cave, Third Eye Blind, How To Dress Well, and others both live and in the studio. My time with Magik also coincided with a several year stint with the live story telling show Pop Up Magazine as Production Manager. I then moved on to utilize my degree in ethnomusicology to run the Curation Department for music tech company Feed Media Group for the next half a decade. After helping turn a team of one into a full department of curators, I felt the call of the sea and have once again returned to consulting and freelancing in music, sound, and the intersection in-between.
My current personal project is ‘Cloud Diary’, a video series combining my nautical passion, musical explorations, and a fascination with the intimate. In addition to my own personal practice, I enjoy working on projects ranging for short form video, sound installations, to full length features; from traditional composing to mixing and sound design to live music and performances. My work is about continual exploration and growth, movement and entropy.
